Texas A&M University at Galveston, abbreviated as TAMUG, is an ocean-oriented branch campus of Texas A&M University. It was established in 1962 as a marine laboratory. The total enrollment of TAMUG is 324 students, out of whom several are international students from abroad. The university offers undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs through eight departments. The university's academic programs are distinctively ocean-based and include marine fisheries, marine engineering technology, maritime studies, marine biology, etc.
More than 60 percent of TAMUG students receive some kind of financial aid. Thus, world-class marine technology and sciences training become more accessible to a diverse cohort of students.
