Missouri Southern State University commonly referred to as MSSU is a public university located in Joplin, Missouri. The university was established in 1937 as Joplin Junior College. In 1972, the college was renamed and it received its name Missouri Southern State University. It holds the affiliation with the certifying body of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC).
The total number of undergraduate students on the campus is 5500 with almost 200 international students welcomed from 30 countries.
