Saint Mary's is a Catholic, non-profit private institution. To date, no other Catholic university in Texas or the Southwestern United States can match its founding by Marianists or the Society of Mary in 1852. It is currently the most prominent Catholic institution in Texas. At this Catholic and Marianist University, you will find various opportunities to become active in your academic pursuits and religious life. Students immediately become a part of this family, which is dedicated to excellence, truth, and the common good, and as soon as they arrive on campus, they assume their place in the family. A downtown campus with a 135-acre footprint and a total undergraduate enrollment of 2,139 students (fall 2020). It follows a school year divided into two semesters. Students at St. Mary's campus, which has a student body of nearly 4,500, are enrolled in the Social Sciences and Humanities; Arts College, the Greehey Business College; the School of Science, Technology, Engineering and the St. Mary's University School of Law, among other academic programs.
The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has accredited St. Mary's. Aside from this accreditation, the Greehey School of Business is also a member of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).
