Situated in Jacksonville, Florida, the University of North Florida (UNF), was established in 1972 as an upper-division college, meant for only juniors and seniors and then started accepting freshmen from the year 1984. The semester-based academy is affiliated to State University System of Florida and is authorized by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, to grant doctorate, masters and baccalaureate degrees to the students. Currently presided by John Delaney, UNF constitutes of six branches which in total, offer fifty-three undergraduate and twenty-eight graduate degrees along with coastal biology, nutrition, music and noted business programs.
UNF has been awarded the 48th rank for best online bachelor's programs for almost a decade.
In the year 2021, the News & World Report of the U.S. ranked this university 272nd in national universities and 136th in public universities.

In 2020, INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine awarded UNF the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award for the sixth time.
