Mercer University is a private research university established in 1833. The university was founded as Mercer Institute and has its main campus in Macon, Georgia, United States. It gained university status in 1837 and developed as one of the oldest private universities in the state. The university is affiliated with Georgia Research Alliance, Oak Ridge Associated Universities, Space Grant, NAICU, and Southern Conference.
Mercer University courses constitute programmes like business, liberal arts and sciences, engineering, music, business, education, health professions, medicine, pharmacy, counselling, journaling, human services, theology, nursing, law, professional advancement, and more in 12 of its colleges. There are approximately 9,000 students on the campus with a population of 250 international students.
Mercer University scholarships, university grants, and financial aid are available for students studying full-time courses. The merit-based scholarships are available for freshman and new transfer students and apply to tuition fees only.
The athletic team of the university is accredited with NCAA Division I and offers a wide variety of programmes, sports apparatuses and types of equipment, and fields. There are eight men’s sports teams and ten women’s sports teams. All the university sports teams compete in the Southern Conference except women’s sand volleyball which competes in the ASUN Conference.
