Texas Southern University is a public university recognized for its remembrance as one of the largest and highly comprehensive historically black universities. It was established in 1927 in Houston, Texas. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges certifications. It is also a member school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. The university has a strength of 10,000 students with a population of 634 international students on campus.
Texas Southern University courses are available in public affairs, law, business, education, engineering, arts, science, pharmacy, health sciences, law, psychology, computer science, languages, and communication. It offers over 100 undergraduate, graduate, online degrees, and other specialized academic programmes.
Texas Southern University scholarships and financial bursaries are granted based on the students' test scores and GPA requirements. The students can avail of scholarships which are resources and affect the need-based financial bursary packages received by the students.
TSU has intercollegiate sports teams called the Tigers. It has the sporting affiliation of FCS-SWAC and NCAA Division I. The sports teams compete in Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and NCAA. It also recruits Ocean of Soul marching bands nationwide.
