The State University of New York, established in 1867, is a prestigious public liberal arts college. It was founded in 1867 and later established as a state liberal arts college in 1948. The university offers 50 State University of New York postgraduate and 14 State University of New York undergraduate courses. Among the most common majors are education, business, social sciences, biology, and psychology. It educates more than 9000 students including 3241 international students representing 23 countries worldwide.
As a member of the New York Space Grant Consortium, Geno is funded by NASA to carry out outer-space-related research on campus. As a result of this participation, Geneseo has been designated as a "space grant" institution.
Scholarships for international students to study in the United States range from USD 1,000 (INR 70,000) to USD 6,000 (INR 4,20,000) each year. The Ambassador Apartments World Citizen Scholarships for International Students awards two USD 500 (INR 38,260) scholarships.
