The Lehman College was founded in 1931 as the Hunter College (Bronx campus). In September 1967, the Hunter College became an independent college under the City University of New York. The name was changed to honour the New York Governor, Herbert H. Lehman. The Lehman College is a public co-educational institution with around 90 degree programs, which include both under-graduate and graduate courses.
